Brothers, Fred and Barney, were owner surrendered to a shelter in rural South Carolina. These two boys were extremely shy and very attached to each other. They were scared and shut down, not taking to human interaction. This decreased their prospects of getting out of the shelter. We knew these two boys needed some extra love and compassion, so we scooped them up and brought them to the farm. Fred was the shyer pup while at the shelter. He is slowly becoming the more outgoing one on the farm. And by outgoing, we mean he is the first to cautiously sniff in our direction for treats. Barney is the more cautious of the two. He uses his brother as a bodyguard and is always a few steps behind Fred when greeting people. They will probably never be your typical family dog, but that is ok. They still do not like to be handled or approached by people, but they have formed a routine here. They are crate trained and enjoy playing in the yards with the other dogs.They have a home at the farm and many doggy friends to spend their days with. And, of course, they will always have each other. We know that these two are happy here and are living a much more satisfying life than if they were to be left in the shelter. They probably will never be the affectionate family dogs, which is ok because they have a home here on the farm. We want to provide the best care possible for these two boys.
