Meet Odin, a 9-10-year-old Black Lab-Shar Pei mix with a sleek 55-pound frame and a soft, medium-length black coat. Odin’s heartwarming loyalty and gentle nature make him an exceptional companion, and he’s now looking for a calm, loving home as his owner is moving out of state and sadly can’t bring him along. Odin was adopted from LCAR eight years ago, and during that time, he’s become a well-trained, reliable friend. He’s fully housebroken, non-destructive, and crate-trained (although he doesn’t need one)—he’s trustworthy enough to roam freely at home. Odin’s happiest when he’s around his people, whether curled up next to them in bed or resting in his own bed nearby. While he can get a little anxious during car rides, he settles down once inside and is usually easygoing. His loyalty is unmatched—Odin will even wait for permission before going for a walk if his owner is sleeping inside the house. He loves his routines and recognizes his owner’s friends by name. Mornings are his favorite time for cuddles, making them the perfect start to the day. Having had a challenging past with a dog attack, Odin can be cautious around other dogs but gets along well with calm, older dogs. Although he hasn’t lived with cats, he doesn’t show much interest in them during walks. Odin is also sensitive to loud noises like fireworks and thunder, and he finds comfort when held close during scary moments. Odin is incredibly intelligent and knows an impressive range of words and commands. While he’s not food-motivated, he does have a few favorite treats. Odin would thrive in a home with gentle, understanding people who can provide him with stability, comfort, and lots of love. His intelligence and unwavering loyalty leave a lasting impression on everyone he meets, and he deserves a peaceful, caring forever home where he can continue to flourish.
